Introduction:

Your family has joined a French club and the club has decided to go on a two week vacation to a French-speaking country. Each of the families is going to choose a French-speaking country that they would like to visit and present it to the club at the next meeting for members to vote on.

There are over forty Francophone countries in the world representing five different regions on the planet. Your family of four will need to pick a country and create a PowerPoint presentation to convince the other families to choose your country.

The Process:

1. You will be assigned to a family grouping of 4 students.

2. Use the links in the resources section to gather information on the location of your country, including its geographical regions and climate.

3. As a group, you should now discuss who will take on which role:

Jean/Jeanne

You like to participate in outdoor activities, to take photos, and attend sporting events. You also enjoy sight seeing and visiting natural points of interest. Like Indiana Jones, you are an adventure seeker.

Michel/Michelle

You like to go shopping for local products such as traditional clothing, crafts and souvenirs. You also love to attend local celebrations and festivals because you are a party animal (culture vulture).

Denis/Denise

You are always hungry for local foods. You love to sample restaurants and being a chef in your spare time, you like to go grocery shopping, recipe hunting, and sampling local beverages... You are a galloping gourmand(e).

Pierre/Pierrette

You are a history buff and a budding artist . You like to visit historical monuments, museums, galleries, and view architectural points of interest. It is only a matter of time before you are discovered. Picasso, move over!

4. Use the resource section below to guide your research.

5. Create a PowerPoint presentation to promote your country to the class.
