On the flag of P.E.I. there is the Royal Lion at the top. This lion was also on the coat of arms for Prince Edward which the island was named after. At the bottom there is a large oak tree which stands for the oak trees in England and three small oak trees which stand for the 3 counties in P.E.I. (Kings, Queens and Prince). The island at the bottom stands for England and P.E.I. which are both islands.

P.E.I.'s provincial flower is the Lady Slipper. It is named the Lady Slipper because the petals form a shape that looks like a slipper. It blooms in late May and June and grows in shady, moist woodlands under Beechwood, Spruce and Pine Trees.

The Red Oak, P.E.I.'s provincial tree, was used by early settlers to make furniture and barrels because it is strong and heavy. The bark has lots of tanic acid in it which is used to make leather. The Red Oak is not as common on P.E.I. as it used to be because of people clearing the land.
